LED Spotlights replaced Halogen spotlights

For outdoor accent lighting, halogen spotlights were/are being used. The demand of spotlights is old enough for the commercial as well as residential lighting. As for example in shopping malls, cinemas, business institutes, shops, restaurants, other beautiful places, some historical places, front of statues or fountains, etc, in order to beautiful stream of illumination. They are even used inside the home, to display any art work or any special portion of house, in an effective manner.  Though halogen spotlight are still being used at some places, at the same time, these are getting replaced by LED spotlights. The LED spotlight is a favourite topic for modern lighting designers, and so they are using them for added advantages.

There are similarities as well as differences between two of them. Talking about similarities, none of them emit any harmful gases; hence both of them are environment friendly. Both of them are durable and long lasting and reflect soothing bright white light. Irrespective of such similarities, there are certain differences between both of them. Rather, it can be said that there are some disadvantages of halogen spotlights, because of which LED spotlights conquer over them and so are in demand.

Talking about those disadvantages and so differences between them. Halogen Spotlights functions at very high temperature needing a very high voltage hence resulting into high energy consumption. This is due to the fact that halogen lights have tungsten filaments, so in order to produce good light, that filament has to be heated strongly. While on the other hand, in case of LED lights, there is no filament. The technology behind LED lights illumination is the low of electrons through the units of diodes. And this flow of electron requires very low voltage to generate good amount of illumination. Undoubtedly, this results in extremely low consumption of energy. Hence, it is very obvious that more and more crowd will prefer saving their money. With much long age and low consumption, halogen spotlights are getting replaced by LED spotlights, ignoring the hassles in replacement.

Moreover, unlike CFL, LED spotlights do not use mercury, hence are generally used in closed areas as well such as to focus any delicate item in a shop. Due to this fact, since there is no chance of electrocution, these are being used near kids as well. Used in photography and in house decor, because of no heat radiation there are no chances of heat damage.
Initially, these LED lights were very expensive, but with the increase in demand, there is a great downfall in its prices. In addition to this, its long life benefits it users. There are some special LED spotlights which comprises multifaceted reflectors to produce very crispy bright light. Other than this type, there is one more type which can be operated in both AC and DC power supply.

With above added advantages, you can easily figure out the best choice as per your requirement with any false illusion.

Pros and Cons of LED Flood Lights

There are numerous LED products in the market such as LED floodlights, LED spotlights, LED downlights etc. From that various type we will discuss about LED floodlights. These are the special kind of floodlights which are beneficial for illuminating wide areas such as stadiums, stages, garden, pavements and other spacious places. Earlier high pressure sodium and metal halide were used in the production of floodlights. But this is the era of LED, with rapid growth and development of Light Emitting Diode, LED floodlights have also being manufactured and successfully launched and very soon have become favourite. It has so many advantages with itself such as low energy consumption, long lasting and less maintenance.

We will discuss about its advantages and disadvantages in detail.

Advantages
These are easy to install i.e. these can be installed in few minutes. If a fixture is already placed, you just need to install lamp into it, or if you want to replace old fixtures with new one, this can also be done in a moment. Secondly, they are very much eco-friendly. Talking about this point, first of all they don’t produce too much heat. As, LED lights uses LED technology so they don’t contribute in IR radiation. IR radiation let the temperature increase because of which heat is produced. But this is not the case with LED lights. Additionally, due to high efficiency of LED’s, fixture body also maintains a temperature and hence there is no UV radiation.

Thirdly, LED illumination is the most efficient illumination, using just one-third power as compare to traditional bulbs; these LED floodlights are reducing energy consumption and resources used to produce energy. Moreover, there is solar powered LED also available in the market, with which there is just negligible or no consumption of energy. Fourthly, the LED floodlights have long life. On an average it is researched that life of an LED is around 50,000 hours, which is 10-50 times of any traditional lighting resource. Also, there are some special floodlights, in which multiple LED floodlights are placed. So if any of them get failed there is no impact on other LEDs. Other LED keeps illuminating the light. Talking about fifth example, LED floodlights are very small in size and can be installed without any extra optical fixture. And the last but not the least LED can reflect versatile colours and that too without filters.

Disadvantages
The initial investment is higher. As compared with traditional lighting resources, LED lights are 3-5 times more expensive. But this is just one time investment. While after installing, these LED cost 10 time less than transcendent and halogen bulbs i.e. operation cost is much less, saving the energy and cutting down the electricity bills. Secondly, in some specific cases where high lumen is desired, these cannot be used. This is due to the fact that due to heat sinking limitations, LED floodlights cannot go beyond 200 Watts easily.

Hence, revolution carried out by LED technology is much worthy in every aspect.
